Gastronomy & Wine – Minho and Douro Valley’s

Gastronomy & Wine – Minho and Douro Valley’s

per person

Portugal is known for its wine production, from port to sparkling wines, all regions have distinctive characteristics allowing the production of wines of a known quality.

The regions visited in this tour are distinct, but with wines of character, Vinho Verde and Port.

The Region of Minho is located in the heart of the Alvarinho wine region. An ancient grape variety of exceptional quality, known for the range of wines it produces in the Vinho Verde region, specifically in the two sub-regions of Monção and Melgaço. In addition, most of the vinho verdes are combined with the Loureiro grape variety, so Alvarinho has a markedly floral and fruity profile.

The city of Porto is known for its historical sites, Unesco’s classified heritage, the golden river (Douro), its people and, of course, port. Port is produced in a region far from the city of Porto, in the Douro valley, but it is in the city of Vila Nova de Gaia that the cellars are located where it is stored and aged, to become a drink of extraordinary aromas and palate, a drink of the angels, some say.
It is not possible to visit Porto without having the experience of sampling a glass of port, but better still would be to taste the wine with the vineyards or the barrels in which it is stored as a background. It is a voyage in time, with a touch of contemporaneity. The combination not to be missed in this experience is the unique gastronomy of this region.
