Sortelha, considered one of the best preserved villages in Portugal, allows us to live in the full medieval atmosphere. A village that was once part of the defensive line of border castles, and that derives its name from the way the terrain is arranged in rocky outcrops surrounding the village, in the shape of a ring, which in Castilian is called sortija. Its rural houses, built of granite and built on top of the rocks, remain intact and make this one of the most beautiful Portuguese villages.
