Wine tasting in Castelo Rodrigo
More than a tasting, an experience
Around the 12th century, Cistercians monks inhabited the Convent of Santa Maria de Aguiar. The monks, with their knowledge acquired from other areas, started the cultivation of vines and the production of wine in the region.
The privileged location of the Beira Interior Region, above 700 metres, endows it with quality wines that leave no palate indifferent. It is at the foot of the Serra da Marofa hills, between the valleys of the Côa and Águeda rivers, which flow into the international, neighbouring River Douro, that we find Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, a town with a winemaking tradition where high quality wines are produced. Castelo Rodrigo is a perfect place for wine tasting.
